My domain expired two years ago, and they parked a dummy search engine (basically one of those "ad's disguised as content" portals, that steal the click-thru revenue from the rightful recipients). Anyway, the content they put up there has nothing to do with the domain name, and they somehow feel justified in charging a person who is on SSI $10,000 to renew the name.... (
atom12.com was the domain, if you are curious). Not only that, they stole screenshots and text (word for word) off my site from when it was active, and are using it as an example of "what they can do for you" (
http://www.aboutus.org/atom12.com ). It is the shadiest thing thats happened to me for a while. Trying to deal with such a huge, overbearing company has been stressful and has gotten me no-where. I guess I'll check out the BBB, ICANN, ICPEN, or WIPO organizations to see if they can help.... but I feel powerless (not to mention stepped on)
So just get a new one. Accidentally expired 2 years ago? Were you in a coma? Not being mean, just saying this is the consequence of letting it expire, learn and move on.
Best of luck! :-)
That website is just displaying the old information. The pictures fall under fair use. Regardless, you should see who atom12.com is currently registered to. The offer may not be coming from the company that registered the domain. In fact, it most likely isn't.
