Domain expired?

I received MAILER-DAEMON which stated unable to deliver your message. The reason it gave - message expired for domain.

What does this mean ? Has this person canceled their email account ?

That could be reason or this operson forgot to pay his/her bill, BUT for what I read I understand the "message expired..." not necessarily the domain.

There is a time limit for the delivery of a mail, after that the mail service "give up" so to speak, if the inbox was full or If the server was to busy or under maintenance the "message" could have expire before being able to be delivered.
