How long until a domain name becomes available again?

My BlueHost account expires in a few weeks, and I want it back, but not right away. How long until the domain name is listed as available after it gets canceled?

I am assuming almost immediatly. I am not a Blue Host user, so I am not positive. If they let you buy your own domain from an external registar, I suggest you use http://www.mydomains.com and just buy your domain there (As soon as it is available) again for 9 USD a year. I do no know BlueHost's domain plans, maybe it is just as cheap.
