I want to transfer my site from godaddy to namecheap. My account expires on godaddy in March. I am wondering if I do a transfer now will I lose the difference? Like if I do a transfer today will my new expiry date be feb 15,2010?
ya it's a pain in the bum, and kinda hard to explain, but they walk you through every step of the way with emails and what not .. nothing to fear

when ever you transfer a domain you dont lose anything.
say expiry is march 18th 2009, and if you transfer today, expiry will be march 18th 2010.
But in case of HOSTING you will not get any credit.
Transfer takes 5 working days after transfer approved by Admin of domain.
During this you cant change any info in your domain (i.e admin details or nameservers )
There is NO Downtime for site during transfer.
