Renew my soon to be expired domain name elsewhere?

I have a domain name that will soon expire 01-2008.

Q1. The renewal cost is $90, can I register elsewhere for cheaper?

Q2. Is it easy to switch?

Q3. Where can I find the most affordable domain renewal?

Many thanks in advance!

if the domain is .com .net .info .org .biz .us

your most probably can "transfer" it to another "registry" and save lots of money on the renewal

look for http://www.godaddy.com or http://www.luckyregister.com and initiate a transfer but make sure before the expiration date otherwise the process might become unnecessarily long and involved

Q1. You can register at http://www.SolarSystemWeb.com for cheaper.

Q2. It's easy to switch, but it helps to know that

-sometimes you can't transfer a domain for a month or two after any changes of personal information

-you need to "unlock" your domain with some hosts to allow for transfers

-you need to request an authentification code for the name

-check your emails after any requests

Q3: The most affordable domain renewal is dependant on what you need. Many good providers still ask around $30 for renewals, to ensure that your name is protected and to actually make money from their business. Some providers also offer great sign-on discounts, where you can register your name for up to ten years when you start for large discounts and then ask the standard renewal fee at the end of your chosen period. Solar System Web is affordable. There are also other sites that have various prices. Choose one that connects with you.
